WordPerfect vs Microsoft Word

Hello hello again.

Some of you are using Corel WordPerfect instead of Word - I do NOT have a problem with this! (unless it is an illegal copy, and you have not purchased the license, that is an issue.....)

So anyways, you started using it because one of your friends recommended it, or you like the designs, etc...

Here's the problem; If you are creating documents in WordPerfect, and you want to EMAIL or send those documents to others, they may not be able to open your document in Microsoft Word.

True, there is a way you can save in a Microsoft format, but sometimes that doesn't work. Also, your recipient may not know how to tell MS Word to open that document.

If the document is for your own purposes, that's fine, but when you are sending it out, here is something to consider; 100% of the school computers have Word on them, and @ 95% of the users use Word as their default.

It's probably in your best interest to learn Microsoft Word. There are ways to accomplish anything that WordPerfect can do.

:)

  1. Thanks for this, Justin. I should note that, for others' benefit, when sending documents that one doesn't intend to be edited by others, it's a good practice to export it as a PDF first. Even a Microsoft Word document won't necessarily look the same to someone else, since its may appearance may depend on the printer settings. There are free programs for Windows to make PDFs like PDF24, PDF/A, MyPDFCreator, Free PDF Printer, CC PDF Convertor, and there's probably others a Google search would reveal.

  2. ah, that's a great point, jreeve. Thanks.
pdf documents are great if you don't want people messing with your "masterpiece". 8) Also, to read the pdf documents, the Adobe reader software is free and usually installed on every computer.
