There is a growing need to convert your documents to PDF (Portable Document Format)... or that certain format that you open with Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Especially now when a lot of people are using Office 2007, while a great number of us are still on Office 2003, and then some of the poor souls out there don't even have Office on their home computer. So basically, there can be a lot of formats out there, when all you want them to do is read the document! Should it be so complicated? If you really sat down and went through all of the different document formats you could create, and all of the programs that run them... you'd give up.
Let's simplify it.
If you don't want to watch the video, just download the CutePDF converter here: http://www.cutepdf.com/download/CuteWriter.exe
Another HUGE reason to convert, is if you are emailing assignments out and you don't want your students editing your document, or maybe they'll accidentally format to an unreadable format, or whatever. Even if you upload it to your blog for your students to download at home, the PDF document is a standard uneditable file.
That is one thing to keep in mind though, if you want your students to edit this document, do not convert it to pdf...
Everybody has Adobe Acrobat Reader on their computer. If not, it's a free download from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html?promoid=BUIGO
Cool Justin except, I get the 503 error with download. I found the same in my own venture with microsoft. Any ways around this?
ReplyDeleteCool find, Justin. I wonder if this will be available in the next update?
