Every camera these days comes with it's own software to install, and some of them are good, others are just a total waste of your computer's disk space and RAM.
The point is, you never need any of that software to get the pictures from your camera to your computer.
If you are already familiar with your camera and computer, you're already using your software; you may like it, and that's OK. I'm going to show a beginner's guide, which will involve opening up My Computer, and finding the drive there.
I might also add that if you have a card reader, just take the card from your camera and put that into the computer. You won't use the camera batteries this way, and the photos will probably copy faster.
I've found it's easier to go manually into the camera and select the pictures you want, then put them where you want. Sometimes you'll put them on your desktop, other times in My Documents, and most of the time in My Pictures - depending on the content. You probably won't want a photo of that sofa you're selling on KSL.com to be in your "My Pictures Slideshow".
Then you can pick and choose which photos to delete from the camera just by clicking, rather than scrolling through hundreds of them one thumb click at a time.
So here's a 5 minute video using 2 different types of still camera; My Canon Powershot, and my Pentax Optio.
