Those of you who receive my emails see the link to this specific topic, such as:
...rather than just the link to my blog's home page:
When you tell somebody to "check my blog", they may not get to it immediately. So if the author has written several posts by the time your friend has checked that blog, they will not see what you were directing them to.
If you send them an exact link to a specific topic, it won't matter when they click it, they'll always be directed to that specific post.
Another good example is KSL.com. You may tell your friend to click on KSL.com and read the story posted there. If they wait even an hour, KSL may have posted several topics by that time, and your intended story is no longer at the top.
