Email Alert / Notification

Some of you have asked about the Notify function (or, in technical terms, the "thing that tells you when you have email in the corner") :)

Here's how you start it:

Go to Start > Programs > Novell Groupwise > and Notify

You will now see the Notify icon in the taskbar on the lower right of your monitor. It's the Globe, and when you have new email, it will have the envelope in front of it.

You will now see pop-ups when you receive an email, like below:

Or if you missed this, you can Single Click that Globe icon, and it will tell you which new emails you've recieved.

And finally, you can edit your Notify options. Right Click on the Notify icon in the task bar. Select Options, and it will bring you this box.

Feel free to go through these different options. Some popular choices may be:

  • Changing the time amount the pop-up window shows for

  • How often to check for new mail

  • Changing your alarm sound

Have fun with these settings, but don't turn it into an interruption for your class. Certain annoying sounds could disrupt the study time, so keep that in mind.

Feel free to leave a question here, or tell us about something interesting you did with your Notify program.
