Hey folks, this is some basic html stuff.
You may want to add this into your text widget on your blog. It makes an easy ONE CLICK application that will write an email to you that is completely filled out.
Maybe your students' parents can use this to keep informed by your various emails, or if you've just wondered how it works in general.
Here are some images I made and uploaded to my blog. You are free to link to them. I'm that kind of guy.
SAMPLE TEMPLATE (replace the CAPS with your info):
<a href="mailto:YOUR_USERNAME_HERE@weber.k12.ut.us?subject=SUBJECT_HERE&body=BODY_HERE"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-411" title="email-list" src="IMAGE_LINK HERE" alt="" width="126" height="135" /></a>
Here is my "Subscribe" code, including the envelope image:
<a href="mailto:jumcfarland@weber.k12.ut.us?subject=Subscribtion Request&body=Please add me to your email list."><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-411" title="email-list" src="http://blog.weber.k12.ut.us/jumcfarland/files/2008/10/email-list.png" alt="" width="126" height="135" /></a>
Here is my "Unsubscribe" code, including the envelope with the X through it:
<a href="mailto:jumcfarland@weber.k12.ut.us?subject=Unsubscribe Me&body=Please remove me from your email list."><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-412" title="unsubscribe" src="http://blog.weber.k12.ut.us/jumcfarland/files/2008/10/unsubscribe.png" alt="" width="126" height="110" /></a>

Hi Justin,
ReplyDeleteIt's me Nicki again, hey do you know of any text widgets that were..well let me tell you what I was thinking... I want to add one on my page that is like a blinking star or something that I could add text in, for example: Volunteers Needed on Thursday Mornings... I am looking for something like that or something that has text going across the page.. I hope my question makes sense.. if you know of anything like this let me know! I love your blog and all your helpful hints!
Thanks
Nicki
I liked the video. And thanks for sharing what you have created. You are that kind of a guy!
ReplyDeletelol, I AM that kind of guy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for responding so quickly. It's definitely not a computer loading problem, this is strictly a "Kellie's just learning" problem! I went to Write and Link when I was adding links to my blogroll and that all worked fine. Now I've added some pages to my main blog (one for parents, one for teachers, etc.)and I'm trying to insert a link on my static teacher page. I do not want it to show on my blogroll on the main page, I only want it on the teacher page. So, I went to Manage, then Page, then clicked the teacher page. In the place where you type stuff, the toolbar has buttons for font, justification, etc, and there is a button for adding a link. The problem is, I can't click on that button because it is inactive and gray. It's not bold like the other buttons. I've seen links on the pages of other blogs (some teachers have links to spelling lists, etc.) so I know it's possible, I just can't figure it out! I hope this explained it better. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteSo, if we add the "subscribe" code as a text widget, will the parents be emailed each time we update our blogs? That is what I am looking for. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe video has been fixed, thanks.
