Well folks, the end is near.
The end of your fields of green pastures we call "unlimited mailbox storage space".
It's archiving time. To archive your email, you are removing selected messages from your mailbox and storing them locally on your computer or disc of choice. This will free up space on the server so you can continue to "educate" your peers with funny water slide compilation videos. ^_^ You see, that green pasture may have a fence around it, but there's plenty o' room to graze still.
EDIT: I forgot to mention these things in the video;
- You CANNOT archive a certain folder at a time, you'll have to go into the folder and archive the individual emails.
- When you open your archive, those emails will realign with their folders.
- You can sort by SIZE to begin targetting those larger emails first, as a quick start to freeing up some space.
- Archive any email that is over 1 year old.
- Any custom folders that you have created, such as "family emails" are STILL on the server. These are included in your total mailbox size, and must be archived or deleted.
I've created a little video showing how easy it is to archive. I've also included an ALTERNATIVE to archiving, since most of your storage is from photos, videos, music and such - wait, I mean Word, Excel, and PowerPoint docs. You can just download those attachments and then delete the email (if you like).
But Archiving is easier. So here's the video:
Thanks for showing me ahead of time how to archive our e-mails. I'm going to keep your e-mail close at hand, or I'll never remember how to find these e-mails again.
