So you find this SWEET theme that has Dinosaurs flying around in space ships while eating bananas.... oh, and it's purple. But it's not in the WSD directory, so you can't simply click to activate it.
Not to worry, we'll get you those dinosaurs.
Since most themes are created by different people, here are some logical features to look for before you choose your theme:
- Is there a "Meta" section on the page? This will display the "login" link, and also the Site Admin link for quick access to your Dashboard.
- Is it easy to navigate? Can you or some of your "not so nerd" friends get around easily on this page when they visit?
- Is it appropriate? ....obviously.
- Is it "WIDGET READY"? This is a necessary feature we look for before activating it. This means it is capable of all those cool little add-ons and features that you come across.
The only thing we ask you to look for is the "widget ready" feature, while the layout is just your personal taste, and most likely common sense.
So, it passed the requirements, now what?
Copy the web address you found your theme on, with the exact name of the theme. Email this to Justin Reeve (not McFarland) at jreeve@weber.k12.ut.us. It only takes him a matter of minutes to add this to the Theme Directory, then other WSD bloggers will be able to choose it as well.
Where can you find additional themes? Well, there are hundreds, possibly thousands of locations out there, but a good place to start is here: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/
Happy Blogging!
