Instant Messenger pop-ups and alerts

Are those popup boxes annoying you whenever somebody logs on or off?

I'll show you how to disable those, among other alerts and options.

Open up your main messenger window:

Go to Tools, and Options

Click on Alerts on the left side

This shows your various alerts and alarms. You can choose to turn them off, on, or even play a customized sound when they happen.

Select your options of "When a Contact Comes Online", and UNCHECK the box labeled Display Alert.

Do the same for "When a Contact Goes Offline" if desired.

Notice when you uncheck the box, the blue "i" symbol is gone. Those blue symbols tell what you currently have alerts set for.

You can even choose to not play any sounds when your status is not "Available". This means, when you are up teaching your class, you won't be interrupted by sounds coming from your Instant Messenger. Otherwise, the sounds will play, if selected, while you are at your computer.

REMEMBER, whatever changes you make, you MUST hit OK or Apply. Otherwise it will reset and nothing will change.
