What is "Workstation Only"?

This is for your WSD computer only with Novell Client installed.

When you are booting up in the morning, you'll enter your username and password at the Novell login screen. You'll also notice the "Workstation Only" box under your password. Normally, you would leave this UNCHECKED, or blank.

What happens if you CHECK the box, and log in as Workstation Only?

Here are a few things that you WON'T have access to:

  • GradeQuick

  • Daily Announcements

  • Network Drives (M, N, Z....)

  • Other shortcuts on your desktop from the Application Explorer folder, such as:

    • Accelerated Reader and Math

    • UPASS Test Navigator (core testing program)

    • Library Online Catalog

    • And others, depending on your setup.

"Workstation Only" will STILL GIVE YOU ACCESS to:

  • Internet

  • Email

  • Instant Messenger

  • Other programs that aren't coming from Novell ZENworks

If you ever see that popup box at login that states you are having problems, "Would you like to login to Windows anyways?".... If you hit YES, you will login as Workstation Only. If you select NO, you will be back at the login screen. If you see this message, your PC is not properly connecting to the network, and you may want to contact your school tech.

If there is a general network issue, all users may be required to login to Workstation Only. Then when the problem is fixed, you can log back in to the network.
